This monument marks the spot where settlers defeated Iroquois warriors in bloody hand-to-hand fighting. Immortalized here is Raphael-Lambert Closse, renowned for his proficiency at the once-noble endeavor of killing Indians. His dog, Pilote, is honored for once barking to warn settlers of an impending Iroquois attack.
