This bronze likeness is an attempt by Vicki Winters Reid to keep the jaws of oblivion from closing around St. Ignatius of Loyola. Ignatius established the Society of Jesus in 1540, and later members of his order went on to found Georgetown University. The Jesuit influence still makes itself felt here in the two theology classes included in the university's core curriculum.
